This 1 cubic foot sized carbon filter will remove off-taste and odor from your water - caused by chlorine, solvents, and others. Carbon filters can also remove levels of lead, mercury, VOC's, and many other harmful compounds. The system will also act as a self-cleaning filter, removing sediment down to 20 microns in size! Because organic contamination can form on the high surface area carbon, we recommend replacement of the filter bed every two to three years. Our automatic backwashing carbon filters use the new advanced Autotrol 263 "Performa" valve with a timer-based 440i control. The 440i controls the backwash cycle assuring dependability and high efficiency. Our standard model is supplied with high activity 12X40 mesh granular activated carbon (GAC), with gravel underbedding. The media tank, manufactured by Structural, is poly lined, fiberglass reinforced and supplied in an off-white color. The unit comes complete with a system by-pass valve.

Top Quality GAC Media - Our standard carbon filters are supplied with a high activity grade of 12X40 mesh granular activated carbon (GAC) - an outstanding material for taste, odor and dissolved organic chemical removal from water. GAC contains a very high surface area resulting in exceptionally high adsorbtion and removal efficiency. This carbon is very durable, and will provide a high “polish” to the filtered water, yielding great tasting water. GAC has an extremely high capacity but must be replaced when the filter bed loses the capacity for reduction of taste and odor. On average, we recommend replacement of the bed every two to three years – frequency of bed replacement will vary – for an accurate estimate of when your bed may require replacement, please call or send us an email with details of your specific application. High Flow Riser & Backwash - Our carbon filter systems use a high flow 1.05" distributor with a gravel underbed to ensure effective performance, and proper distribution of flow throughout the bed. The Autotrol control valve automatically delivers the high backwash rate required for proper cleaning and reclassification of the GAC filter bed. Included!

Pipe Connections - Pipe connections are available in 3/4" or 1", in both copper and PVC - please select the connection that best suits your application. Free!
Carbon Type - Various grades of granular activated carbon (GAC) are available. A 12 x40 mesh high activity GAC is included in all of our standard designs, and used for improving the taste of water, and removal of chlorine, low levels of solvents (VOCs) and sulfur. A superior grade of high purity GAC manufactured from coconut shells removes higher levels of solvents. For improved sulfur removal efficiency, consider using Calgon's patented Centaur grade carbon. Insulating Tank Jacket - Tank jackets are available that add a designer look to your filter. Jackets also provide insulation, and prevent “sweating” in damp locations.
