The Microline TFC-4 under-sink reverse osmosis system is a four stage filtration system, providing excellent quality purified water for drinking and cooking. For a limited time, these units include an EXTRA filter set at no additional charge - A $55.00 value! The system supplies up to 35 gallons per day of purified drinking water - right at the sink!

The system uses a high quality T.F.C. reverse osmosis membrane with a sediment pre-filter, carbon post-filter and in-line polishing carbon filter. The free replacement filter set includes the pre, post and in-line filters. These units include a pressurized polymer holding tank, color-coded tubing for easy homeowner installation, chrome dispensing faucet, and under-sink cartridge assembly that is easily accessed for quick filter removal and replacement. Also included is an automatic shut-off feature that stops the purified water manufacturing process when the holding tank is full. Units are NSF standard 58 approved, use only FDA approved materials of construction, are tested to meet Water Quality Association Gold Seal standards, and have a limited 5-year warranty on materials and workmanship. Replacement filters and RO membranes are available on the Reverse Osmosis page.

Description

How the TFC-4 Works - The Microline TFC-4 reverse osmosis system is a 4-stage design to provide the quality drinking water available only from a from a high-end RO system. “RO” stands for "Reverse Osmosis", a natural process of water purification which sets the foundation of Microline® RO Systems. With the Microline® process of Reverse Osmosis (RO), the pressure from household tap forces water through a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane separates the everyday household water at the molecular level. The membrane acts like a filter to isolate contaminants, to produce water, with substantially reduced dissolved solids and contaminants. This cleaner, purer, refined water is then stored in a holding tank, ready at your convenience. The process is accomplished in four stages as outlined below:

Pre-filtration When water first enters the Microline® RO System, it flows through a pre-filter that protects the automatic shut–off and membrane from clogging with debris. The job of the pre-filter is to filter out larger particles such as silt, rust or scale, extending the life of your R.O. membrane and allowing it to tackle contaminants. In Microline® TFC Systems, the pre-filter also contains activated carbon - this tremendously porous material removes chlorine (which is necessary to protect the refined TFC Membrane), and serves to filter out contaminants as well.

The Membrane Water then passes through to the core of the system system—the TFC membrane. Here, most contaminants too small to be trapped by the pre-filter are removed from the water stream and rinsed to the drain. The membrane’s microscopic pores allow Hydrogen and Oxygen molecules through (H2O), and the majority of the dissolved solids and contaminants are flushed into the drain’s water stream and exit the system. All Microline® RO Systems have our patented seal on each membrane. The seal is designed to assure worry free installation, simplify system maintenance and reduce your service costs.

Post-filtration After water leaves the RO membrane, it passes through a high quality carbon block filter to provide an improved taste to the water, and remove many organic contaminants (if present).

Final “Polish” - After the post-filter, the RO water is routed to the holding tank. Our tank holds approximately 2 gallons of fresh, clean water and the automatic shut–off tells the system when it’s time to make more! When you turn on the Microline® faucet and draw water from the holding tank, it then goes through its final stage of filtration, a carbon filter, to remove any remaining tastes and odors before reaching your glass.

NSF Standard 58 Certified - The Microline TFC-4 Drinking Water Systems have been Tested and Certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 58 for the reduction of Arsenic V, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium III, Chromium VI, Copper, Cyst, Fluoride, Lead, Nitrate, Nitrite, Radium 226/228, Selenium and TDS.

High Quality TFC Membrane - The Microline TFC-4 reverse osmosis system uses a high quality Thin Film Composite Membrane (T.F.C.), producing excellent drinking water at a fast rate. Since T.F.C. membranes are not chlorine–resistant, the advanced Microline® T.F.C. system features a sediment/carbon pre-filter. This specialized pre-filter prevents any chlorine from entering the membrane, allowing T.F.C. systems to be installed on both municipal and private well supplied water systems.

Options

Our standard TFC-4 reverse osmosis filter systems are configured with many upgraded features, but you can add additional options as described below. Visit the Reverse Osmosis Information page to learn more about this product.

Metered System - The TFC-4 RO system is available with an on-board conductivity meter that measures your water quality to advise you when you might need to replace the filters. Without the meter, we recommend that the pre & post filter set be replaced on an annual basis, with the RO membrane replaced every two to three years.

Pressure Booster For low water pressure applications (less than 40 psi), a pressure booster pump is recommended for more efficient RO system performance. Simply install this booster pump on the water line that supplies your RO system to increase water pressure to within a normal operating range. Booster systems require a 110-120V/50-60Hz electrical supply. Pump output pressure is adjustable – it’s quiet and energy efficient - and will automatically shut-off off when the RO water storage tank is full. Pump and switch are both supplied with quick connect fittings for easy installation. Install the included pressure switch on the tubing between purified water outlet of the RO system and the storage tank.
